The Johns Hopkins University is pleased to announce our fourth annual symposium on clinical investigation, scheduled for three days in April 2001. The symposium explores new trends and controversies facing the clinical investigator as well as way to improve specific research practice skills. The first day addresses Good Research Practices and the remaining days focus on Clinical Research.

For the past three years the JHU Clinical Trials Unit has hosted this conference as a dedicated lecture series addressing issues in drug development and clinical research. This series has provided a forum for active collaboration between the industry, government, and research communites at large and has explored practical as well as visionary ideas.

We once again look forward to broad-based participation by enthusiastic academic investigators, community-based clinical researchers, and research coordinators, all ambitious to acquire the vision and tools to meet the new challenges facing clinical investigation.

This symposium is jointly endorsed by: the Office of the Deputy Director for Clinical Research, Department of Medicine; the Graduate Training Programs Clinical Investigation; and the Dean's Office for Research, School of Medicine. The sessions will be organized through the CME Office to provide AMA Category 1 CME credit hours. All sessions wil take place at Turner Auditorium on the campus of the Johns Hopkins University Medical Center.
